Thank you for your interest in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Preschool Program!
Through the community's support in passing the recent referendum, renovations to the interior of La Grande Elementary School are expected to be completed in time to welcome eligible preschool children for the 2026-2027 school year! To follow the progress of the referendum projects, please visit the Bond Referendum Updates webpage.
We are excited to bring all of our preschool classrooms together under one roof at La Grande Elementary School, which is located at 330 South Avenue in Fanwood. Creating this early learning community at La Grande will offer endless opportunities for collaboration, special events, and unique experiences to benefit our children, families, and staff. It will be a historic transition for the district and we look forward to having your family join us on this journey.

Program Overview
The Scotch Plains - Fanwood Preschool Program provides a foundation of readiness skills for 3- and 4-year-old children. The preschool program is a tuition-based, regular education program with integrated classes that include some classified student participation. Enrollment is limited to Scotch Plains and Fanwood residents. For the 2026-2027 school year, all preschool classrooms will be housed at La Grande Elementary School, located at 330 South Avenue in Fanwood.
The preschool program is a half-day program. While we are excited about relocating all preschool classes to LaGrande School (anticipated 2026-2027), this change in facilities does not include plans to expand to a full-day preschool model. Should any changes to our preschool program be considered in the future, we will communicate directly with our families well in advance and provide opportunities for community input.
